Bolney Wine Estate Cuvée Rosé 2017

(90% Pinot Noir, 10% Chardonnay) comes out along the lines of Camel Valley’s Rosé, but even more primary on first release. Just pure, sweet strawberries and herbs with a slightly deeper vein of redcurrant fruit and some white flowers, unimpeded by anything out-of-balance – I think this will open out a lot over 6 months.

Josetta Saffirio Nebbiolo d’Alba DOC Metodo Classico Rosé 2017

This is young and primary, with some sweet red cherries and strawberries, white flowers and autumn jellies – rosehips and crabapples – as well as an attractive whiff of the wilderness from bitter herbs and sage. There’s pithy, bright mandarin edge to the palate which stops short of chewiness or extraction – instead it is balanced nicely with a grippy and thirst quenching snap. It hasn’t fallen into the trap of being too dry either
