The Balfour Skye’s Blanc De Blancs 2014 is not trying to be a Champagne-like Blanc De Blancs, which I like. It shows off some really pretty creamy yellow apple with some herbs and blossom opening up. There’s ripeness here, with yellow fruits like tangy apricot, but it retains its very pure, clean and light-footed take on Chardonnay. There’s a nice breadth of texture and a little plushness of dosage, which is a bit to the fore for now – this could age nicely.
