This is just a perfectly assembled ripe fruit bowl: juicy red pear, white peach and a lovely summer pudding of redcurrant and strawberry. There’s a pale pastry warmth just around the edges, and this lovely fragrant clementine sweetness that seems to pop up in this cuvée. Just a touch of that English sense of hedgerow and sage, but it isn’t at all herbal or rustic – it’s all about beautiful clarity and balance, and doesn’t go ‘sweet ‘n sour’ despite both acidity and dosage being over 10 g/l. It is a marvel, this wine.
